Tell me about how you originally got into your craft, Bleu.

i've been into songwriting since i was a little kid...i almost can't remember a time when i wasn't into music and songwriting...i wanted to write songs before i knew how to play an's always been my passion.

How do you describe your music to people?
i'd describe myself as an eclectic singer/songwriter...i realize that's a broad (and overused) term, but i think it applies...songwriting is at the core of everything i do...i think a lot of people associate me with power-pop...and i certainly have made a lot of what i would consider "power-pop" music...but i'm not sure the term necessarily applies to what i'm doing now.

What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
cooking...i really relax when i'm cooking...i'm not thinking about anything but what i'm making (and what it's gonna taste like when it's done)...i'm not that great, but it's fun to engage in something that you aren't worried about being good at.

What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your business?
honestly, at this point, it's just finding time to finish all the things i want to do...there's just not enough hours in the year to cram in all the songs i want to write and records i want to make.

When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
i always knew i was going to be a musician....never really thought about doing anything else.

In what way has your community impacted your development as a musician?
well...certainly attending Berklee and living in Boston for 13 years had a huge impact on my musical journey...the vibe of the music-school scene and the "local" scene are totally different...and i'm not sure i ever felt like i was in synch with either, but they both certainly had an influence...but i'd say i've been primarily influenced by individuals...various "gurus" who've made me change the way i think about the things i do (or don't).

What other artists out there do you love?
this list is enormous's a few of my friends that i love: Mike Viola may top the list (honestly can't believe i'm in a band with him), Rooney (likewise), Roger Joseph Manning Jr. (and Jellyfish of course), and lemme throw Air Traffic Controller in there..i produced the record..i think Dave Munro is a fantastic songwriter...check 'em out.

What does your future hold?
i'm already done with my next solo record (titled: FOUR)...we'll be releasing that early next year....the LoudLion project is almost done (my homage to Def Leppard and Mutt Lange, featuring Taylor from Rooney, Allison from The Donnas, etc.)...we're recording a new The Major Labels record in the fall (my band with Mike Viola and Ducky Carlisle)...and i've got lots more cuts coming out on other people's records (Kate Voegele, Selena Gomez, Evan Taubenfeld, TV/TV, Steve Rushton, and many more)...wheeee...
