Silks by Sahariah

Sahariah hand dyes silk bellydance veils such as rectangles, half-circles, veil poi/voi veils, silk fan veils, silk cami tops, and silk scarves.

Tell me about how you originally got into your craft, Sahariah.
A few years ago, I went on a missions trip to MS to work with inner city kids at a summer camp. I was in charge of doing arts and crafts with them and we did tie-dye bandannas. I really enjoyed doing tie-dye and decided to dye silk items to do as a business on the side. I also have been bellydancing for several years, and wanted to create my own color combinations of inspiration by putting them onto silk bellydance veils.

What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
I love to travel, which i do not get to do very much. I really love heavy metal music and going to concerts, when I can. I have a passion for bellydance and enjoy studying the art and mystery of this art form.

What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your business?
I think one of the biggest challenges is always having certain items in stock at all times, along with having the time to list items in my shop. I find that I run out of certain items faster, than others. Another challenge is keeping track of inventory of my items. I enjoy all of it though, it keeps me busy!

What item in your shop would you most like to receive as a gift if someone were shopping for you?
It is a hard decision, as there are many different items in my shop that I would like as a gift. Just about anything that I sell.

When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
I always thought I would be a nurse for the longest time, when I was very young.

What other shops or artists out there do you love?
I really like Dark Fusion Boutique, and Big Ass Bindis, just to name a couple. Anything having to do with bellydance.

What does your future hold?
Right now, it is difficult to say this far ahead. I just take one day at a time.
