Ninja Kodou

Eyal Menahem aka Ninja Kodou's music ranges from DnB and Break Beat to Ambient music but it all has influences of Psy trance and some classical music, which is his original musical background.

Tell me about how you originally got into your craft.
I was always a somewhat musical kid, even from a very young age i remember myself tapping things making beats, beatboxing and stuff like that.
6th grade i was spotted at my elementary school as a musically gifted child and was sent to play a youth orchestra in my town, which i did for about 8 years. That was my breakthrough into music in general.

Along the years Psy trance was on a rise and i just fell in love with it- still as a very young boy, electronic sounds just attracted me, then one day a friend showed me this software he had come across you can make electronic music with (it was fruityloops ver. 1 or 2 point something) and that was the turning point in my life leading to the music i make now... been doing it ever since.

In the begining i made psy trance and it just naturally evolved to the music i make today.

What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
I can honestly say making music... its not just for show, really. I really feel like i could go for hours on end (and i do!) and it just never gets old, there's always something new and interesting.

Second best to that would be slacking off listening to music... i mean... who doesn't love doing that?!

What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your business?
Problem is its a very competitive and saturated market. Same way i wanna make it big there are hundreds (if not thousands) that want the same. You just gotta have an open mind, think positive even in the hard times and be as consistent as you can at what you do.

When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
wow... ammm... i actually had no real clue, i was a pretty good student and i was very good with anything that had to do with computers so probably something to do with that but nothing specific...

In what way has your community impacted your development as a musician?
well the Israeli culture is very diverse when it comes to music, as for me specifically, it can start from ethnic sounds of Morocco that my grandparents listen to, to the Israeli trance that's super popular here or the Israeli rock that most my friends like. I was exposed to all of those and much more growing up.. I try to take a little from each cause there's something good for me in every style.

What other artists out there do you love?
there are so many.....
Infected Mushroom are top fav for me.
Gipsy Kings also a top fav.
Yahel
Hybrid
The Prodigy
J.Views
some Lauryn Hill
some Depeche Mode
and many many many more... i really like to hear a lil bit of everything.

What does your future hold?
Hopefully (beezrat ha shem) i'll be able to pursue music exclusively and make a living out of it.

With a little higher hopes i think my music is unique so given the right opportunity i can really make it big.
