Holly of hollygems makes sweet jewelry for everyday wear. This busy mother of three took a moment out of her schedule to have a little chat with us.

Tell me about how you originally got into your craft, Holly.
I started making my own jewelry after I bought a necklace that didn't feel right. I bought a small tool kit and re-strung the beads. Then I began taking apart necklaces that I didn't wear anymore and turning them into something fun and new. Before I knew it, I owned more beads and silver than any one person should ever have the room to store!

What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
I really love fostering creativity in my kids! I can make items for my Etsy shop while my kids are painting, drawing, sculpting and making contraptions at the kitchen table. They see the value in making things and enjoy the satisfaction that comes along with that.

What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your business?
Time is definitely my biggest challenge. I would love to have an extra hour or two, but I seem to find the time to make it work. Probably because it is so enjoyable!

What item in your shop would you most like to receive as a gift if someone were shopping for you?
I regularly "gift" myself when I like how something turns out. My favorite item to wear at the moment is my Oceanwater Necklace.

When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
I always said I was going to be an artist when I grew up. I always knew I would do something creative. It's what truly makes me happy.

What other shops or artists out there do you love?
I have about a million and one favorites, but here are a few:

What does your future hold?
I plan to just keep doing what I'm doing. I'm having a great time!
