Ketzelphotography carries the fine art photography of Gayle Ketzel displayed in prints, on wood panels, with encaustic medium (beeswax) coating, on scrabble and bamboo tile pendants and small tins.

Tell me about how you originally got into your craft, Gayle.
Though I have had a lifelong interest in art and craft, I did not begin to shoot until ten years ago. As I was going to visit a friend in Paris, I decided to treat myself to a point and shoot to record the trip. Taking the photographs and reviewing them when they were developed began a passion in my life I hadn't known before. I went on to take classes in Black and white photography, and even had my own dark room. About six years ago, I joined the digital revolution, enjoying this evolving medium.

What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
To see the image, to find what I constantly search for visually! Then if I'm lucky I get to photograph it.

What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your shop?
Finding the time to do my blog, to add new photographs to my website, to do the work that will promote it. I'd rather be shooting or enhancing photographs in Photoshop.

What item in your shop would you most like to receive as a gift if someone were shopping for you?
one of my crows in encaustic...Black Crow Waiting or Black Crow Perching perhaps

When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
I was sure I would be an art teacher. Didn't get to follow through with it, though, but now, well here I am!

What other shops or artists out there do you love?
irenesuchocki [Be sure to check out Irene Suchocki's interview with SCS! - Ed.]
And my partner's shop birdandmoonstudio. She has been the biggest and best inspiration, muse, encouragement ever! Also, being a member of POE, photographers of etsy, has provided inspirations and many, many favorites to my list. [Also check out the SCS interview with birdandmoonstudio! - Ed.]

What does your future hold?
Expansion and improvement to my shop. I just got a new camera...who ever thought I could be such an equipment junkie! I am expecting to develop my work even further! AND I hope to get to those things which I fine more challenging!
