Cost of Stamps Going Up Monday, May 11th

Via Tiphero

The US Postal Service is raising the price of first class stamps by 2 cents on Monday, May 11th, taking them from 42 cents to 44 cents.

You may want to consider stocking up on some forever stamps which are always honored for 1-ounce letters with no need for additional postage.

The price increase is 4.8%. By buying forever stamps now you are saving 4.8% which is almost double what you can earn in a savings account. Thus it makes financial sense to stock up on some forever stamps.

The United States Postal Service reported a $1.9 billion loss for the March quarter so you can bet more price increases are in store for us. Here's a link from the USPS on the price changes.
