Alona Lahav - Handmade Design

Israili jewelry artist Alona Lahav is all about unique designs. Her jewelry, available at Handmade Design, is made using cold clay with special textures she finds in her environment; delicate pieces of metal and even soles of shoes. Everything is subject for a beautiful texture on the clay. All of her pendants and charms are painted in her unique technique that gives them her signature look. Alona spent some time with us today to tell us more about herself and her craft.

Tell me about how you originally got into your craft.
As long as I can remember, I have loved to create and experience all kinds of materials. I can remember myself as a child getting into a bead store and it was like a dreamland for me. when I grew up as a teenager and bought some beads I would hurry back to my house, excited from the treasure I am having in the bag. I never learned designing, I just love it.

What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
My favorite thing is to create, but I also love photography, baking, eating cake.. and spending time with my kids (when they are not fighting)!

What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your shop?
For me the biggest challenge is to stay fresh, not to stuck with the popular items, always to create new things, to be in passion for the next design.

What item in your shop would you most like to receive as a gift if someone were shopping for you?

Reut earrings

When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
