How do you describe your music to people?
Ah, the tough one….I think my stuff is a combination of many influences. Beatles, Petty, Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Badfinger, Byrds, etc. I guess you would call it, Pop-Rock (a lot of Harmonies, Lyrics that tell a story, nice Melodies)….all based around the Wonderful playing of the members of my band: Danny Ott (Ld Gtr/ Vocals) Drake Shining (Keys/ Vocals) Colin Cameron (Bass/Vocals) and Gerry Reba (Drums).
Tell me about how you originally got into your craft.
I've been singing since I was 4. Started playing drums at 11, guitar and bass (and also started writing songs) at 14. From the time I was 11, I was ALWAYS the guy, forming bands, doing gigs, etc. I grew up in a very inspirational period, including the 50's and 60's, and ALL the great music there was, inspired me to express myself in song.
I am also a Studio owner / Producer. My studio Sofasongs is available for outside clientele. My partner,
Chris Walsh, and I both have many years experience in Recording/Music Production. Chris (also the Mixing Engineer and Chief Tech) has 40 years of mixing/recording experience. We can take your Project from Good to Great!
What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your business?
The current economy, and lack of money for so many creative people, who are working on their Musical dreams!!
When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
I always Dreamed of being successful in Music AND I believe it`s not too late for me to be an overnight SENSATION!!
In what way has your community impacted your development as a musician?
I have been incredibly fortunate to have been exposed to SO MUCH great and wonderful Music since I was young. I have also had the privilege and honor to work with MANY great musicians and producers (many of whom are my close friends today)! I try to gain from ALL those, that I have worked with.
What other artists out there do you love?
The Beatles, Tom Petty, Jackson Browne, Dave Edmunds, James Taylor, and many more.
What does your future hold?
HMMMMMM…..I'm getting a vision (just kidding). I believe, in the new, ever changing
Music environment, that there is a place for me, and the music I make, to be successful!!
Songs that speak to things, we ALL go through! I AM an optimist! I`ve always loved the adage: “You can get a THOUSAND NOs, but, It only takes ONE YES!!”
