Tell me about your background, Heather.
I graduated, from a school in Chicago, IL, with a B.A in Fashion Design. Steadily, from there I have been gaining experience by doing photo shoots, fashion shows, styling and making custom outfits.
Throughout school I knew that I wanted to make crazy things. I knew that I would not be happy doing ready-to-wear so I interned for a latex designer and fell in love with the material. Lately, I have been trying to find new and interesting materials to work with. I love latex but I don't want to be just a latex designer.
What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
Watching movies while making a hat.
What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your business?
I have a full time job at a screen printing shop. Lots of times I come home and I just want to veg out in front of the tv and do nothing. Sometimes it's tough to make yourself go into the sewing room and just get something accomplished.
When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
Someone who worked with animals. Like a vet.
What item in your collection would you like to receive as a gift if someone were shopping for you?
Probably my custom gothic toy top hat.
What other artists out there do you love?
Geez there are so many!
On etsy I would have to say
ooh la la latex
Tom Banwell Designs
What does your future hold?
I would love to quit my job and do Squeak Designs full time.
