Tell me about your name, Kteis.
Kteis is a Greek word literary meaning shell or vagina (as opposed to Phallos) and is commonly used meaning Great Mother or Goddess.

It summarizes everything I crawl to, spirituality, creativity, art, femininity, beauty and mystery.

I am a visual artist from Croatia, small country at the heart of Europe, with great history, culture and heritage which I find very inspiring.
My first fashion collection Arachne is dedicated to spiders. They symbolize female power, creativity and wisdom.

I've always thought of spider web as being very inviting, mystical and meditative.

I purposely haven't put spider image on any of the scarves, because I want to suggest that women who wear it do have spider powers of their own and are an actual spider/owner of the web.

How did you originally got into your craft?
I always wanted to be an artist, since my earliest childhood.

But regarding my fashion design, I started doing it a few months ago, actually.

Although I was always very passionate about fashion, I only created pieces for myself.

And one day in April this year, an intensive idea appeared in my mind that I should make silk clothing and scarves!

I immediately started exploring techniques and materials and created a few pieces that were later included in my Arachne collection. I showed them to some colleagues and they liked them to the extent that some of them screamed! So, I was encouraged enough to start my own fashion business.

What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
Being alone, contemplating stuff, working on my art and designs, feeling freedom that only an artist can experience.

What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your business?
It's definitely being a 'one man band'.

But the hardest part is dealing with marketing pressure.

When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
An artist. Or a priest of some kind, pagan kind, haha.

What item in your collection would you most like to receive as a gift if someone were shopping for you?
My green art-nouveau asymmetrical silk top.  And it's because I don't like green color at all! But when I saw this shade and especially combined with silk that turns it into kinda metallic shade, I knew that I will have to make something of that color.

Reminds me of deep woods or a river.

What other artists out there do you love?
Triz Designs
Benne Gezeritt Designs
Louise Black

What does your future hold?
I don't like thinking about future as I try to live now and here.
Of course, I have plans, but it's not wise to speak about them.
