Now living in Los Angeles, CA for the last 10 years, gilli was forging an independent path before anyone knew what "indie" was. Through her own record label, Warrior Girl Music, gilli took on the music industry on her own terms and successfully produced and released 6 studio music albums to critical acclaim, launched several artists' careers, placed an abundance of songs in film, TV and with other artists, and has performed around the world many times over. How do you describe your music to people, gilli?
Mature pop. Or pop alternative. Personally I don't think it fits in a box!
Tell me about how you originally got into your craft.
I've been performing since i was a little girl, playing piano, singing and dancing. I grew up on a mountain in Australia and was very creative there. my extended bio talks about it.
What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
Write songs and perform them live.
What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your business?
Being the entrepreneur has it's challenges, balancing both.
When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
an artist of all creativity. I think I achieved it!
In what way has your community impacted your development as a musician?
I've always been about community. I build communities. It helps me become who I am today, in promoting and sharing my music, and offering other people the same opportunities. Share and share alike.
