every boy
Every Boy is a New York based singer/songwriter who crafts catchy, alternative pop-folk tunes with a deeply conscious message, clearly a disciple of the Dylan school, and follower of the Harrison way. His debut CD, The Last Lalas, brings you along on a spiritual journey addressing life, love and our place in the Universe.

How do you describe your music to people, eb?
Indie groove is the easiest way but I also tend to say it's got east coast grit with west coast vibe.

Tell me about how you originally got into your craft.
I began performing on stage when I was two years old. I acted and sang on stage, in chorus, and a cappella all the way through college. I started writing songs while I was very young too, one time even writing a song I thought was missing from the Broadway production of Dracula.

What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
To be totally absorbed in the moment while playing music with the band. It's an out-of-body experience that's like surfing on a cloud of sound when all goes right.

What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your business?
Money and time. Never enough of either to get done all that needs to get done.

When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
When I was really young I wanted to be one of three things. I didn't really like school so I wanted to be a teacher, but only a teacher of go-home-time or of recess. I also wanted to be a fire engine, not a fireman, but the big red engine that makes all that noise.

In what way has your community impacted your development as a musician?
I am a New Yorker but I have lived for extended periods away from my hometown. My community has often been far from me geographically but never far from my true inner being. No matter where in the world I have live, I always remain a New Yorker (for good and bad). It's the lens through which I experience the world.

What other artists out there do you love?
I love and respect and admire so many other artists, be they musicians or otherwise. To name just a few I love the genius of Bob Dylan and The Band, The Beatles, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Bob Marley and the Wailers, and Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground. I am a huge fan of painters like Picasso, Matisse, Klee, Leger and of poets like Wallace Stevens, Dylan Thomas, Basho, Issa, and Rilke to name just a few.

What does your future hold?
Ideally, my future holds thousands of more performances for fans who relate so much to my work as a singer/songwriter that they know all the words and can't wait to hear more from every boy.
