Resident Hero

Resident Hero is a bombastic, passionate, 3-piece melodic rock band from Los Angeles. After three years of touring the country with several gold and platinum selling acts, they are releasing their first full-length effort, Look, produced by Brian Virtue. Giving a very intimate, violent, and personal show, they've built up a reputation as one of the most raw and exciting live acts in recent years. Ryan White (vox, guitar) has an open and honest way of expressing his life through music and live performances, an experience echoed by his counterparts Jay Warren (drums), and Luke Agajanian (bass, vox). For the last 5 years Ryan, Jay, and Luke have created the music that they wanted to make together and will continue to push forward for anyone willing to listen.

How do you describe your music to people, Ryan?

I usually say it's melodic rock with raw, honest lyrics.

Tell me about how you originally got into your craft.
honestly i never intended to be in a band when i got my first guitar. i started writing songs when i became bored with learning other bands' music. writing a song went from therapeutic release to a connection with something bigger than me. songwriting is my favorite drug i guess.

What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
breakdance fighting. waiting tables... kidding. books, movies, a dash of football and basketball.

What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your business?
trying to be a leader to those that look up to me while struggling to settle the balance between being an honest musician and paying the bills. making a living but never being embarrassed of the music we make.

When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
a teacher, an archaeologist... certainly not a songwriter. it was a lucky accident.

In what way has your community impacted your development as a musician?
living in l.a. has taught me the responsibility of being an artist for the right reasons. having ideals and holding out for them is okay. we always try and think of the 16 year old kid playing air guitar in the mirror. what would he do in our shoes?

What other artists out there do you love?
Silverchair, Green Day, Eels, Flyleaf, Fair To Midland, Putnam Hall, Blue October, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead. i'm a big fan of lyricists.

What does your future hold?
travel, songwriting, live performances (probably what we're best at). maybe on a larger scale, maybe even on a smaller one. my one constant is that i can never stop. music is the love of my life.
