Jann & Jeff of 2ReVert offer jewelry and household items created from 100% post-consumer skateboards.
Skateboards are made of 7 plys of maple wood. Some are made with wonderful layers of coloured wood. 2ReVert then takes the old used skateboards and designs unique pieces of jewelry, playing with the coloured layers of wood and sometimes the graphics on the skateboard.
Tell me about how you originally got into your craft.
We are a team, and each of us brings something different. Jeff had previous woodworking, skateboard, and jewelry sales through his life. Jann has a business background in the recycling field. We wanted to do something together that could fuel our love of recycling and creating.
What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
We both enjoy a good book, bicycling, and spending time with our pets. Favorite thing in the whole wide world... naughty things (wink, wink)!
What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your business?
Hmmm... limiting the time spent doing our business. Jeff does 2ReVert full-time, and Jann still has a 'day job' along with doing 2ReVert in the evenings. It can be hard to just limit the time, and take a break when it's needed.
What item in your shop would you most like to receive as a gift if someone were shopping for you?
Jann: I'm so smitten with this coaster, I can't believe I actually listed it. I could stare at it for hours.
Jeff: A rectangle belt buckle... like this one
When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
Jann: I thought I would be a vet.. until I realized that they didn't just do the fun stuff like pet kitties all day.
Jeff: I dreamed of being a pro snowboarder.
What other shops or artists out there do you love?
We love loads and try to buy most of our wants/needs from other artists... these are a few of our favorites:
Shawna Erback... we just hung three amazing prints of her's in our living room
Urchin Bags... amazing, cute, and super quality!
Kootsac... wonderful to deal with, great quality, and shares our love to reuse!
Trixie Delicious... amazingly funny, and great use of vintage and reusing all wrapped up in one!
What does your future hold?
Hopefully more living!
