Abstract Art by Tina Carroll

Tell me about how you originally got into your craft, Tina.
Kindergarten was quite boring for me so I commandeered the painting station. Painting grew on me and I went from there. I sold my first painting at the age of 19 and thought that maybe I could make a few bucks off of my work.

What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
I cannot narrow it down to one thing so I think I'll have to say eating/traveling/listening to music and painting. If I could combine them all into one activity then that would be wonderful.

What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your shop?
The biggest challenge is trying to get traffic into the shop and convincing people that while art is not something like gas or food or a mortgage payment, it does have a place in your life. Art feeds your soul.

What item in your shop would you most like to receive as a gift if someone were shopping for you?
I really like Daylight, one of my most recent watercolors. I think it exemplifies my overall style and has plenty of energy.

When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be the first woman president of the United States. I turn 35 this year so maybe I can still give that a shot.

What other shops or artists out there do you love?
Aisyah Ang

Jessica Torrant

Ross Troggio a.k.a. reverendross

Eduardo Cervantes

Meranda Turbak

What does your future hold?
If I knew that then I'd be a millionaire.

Really, I'm going to finish getting my Masters in Art History and continue to paint.
