Platipuses DIY

Plats of Platipuses DIY specializes in making badass plus size clothing, "because big girls need to look hot too." She also makes guy stuff and accessories, all of which are equally badass.

"Supplying curvy hoes with killer clothes."

Tell me about how you originally got into your craft, Plats.
When I was young, about 4-5, my mom would have me sew buttons onto shirts for her. I always really loved doing that for some reason... Then, I started making leg warmers for myself when I was in high school since I couldn't find any that I liked in the stores. After I graduated, I started sewing more and thought I should start making plus sized clothes since I never really saw any DIY for girls with cuddle on their bones like me.

What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
In the whole wide world, my absolute favorite thing to do is take a candle lit bubble bath at 1am, with some Elliott Smith playing in the background. It's magical.

What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your shop?
I think the biggest challenge for me is thinking of new, awesome stuff to make since all of my items are one of a kind. Also I have some fabric that I enjoy so much, I don't know if I can ever cut into it, hehe.

What item in your shop would you most like to receive as a gift if someone were shopping for you?
Even though it is a guy's hoodie, I love this very much.

When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
When I was younger, I wanted to be a lot of different things. Some of them were a fire fighter, a captain of a cruise ship, a magician's assistant, or a tiger. I like to think fashion designer is a mix of all of them.

What other shops or artists out there do you love?
There are so many amazing artists, especially on Etsy. I really enjoy:

Smarmy Clothes

Label of Hope

What does your future hold?
I have no idea what my future holds. I hope I can continue sewing since I love it so dang much. But if I can't keep doing that, I might give tiger a try.
