Mom O Matic

Lotta of Mom O Matic offers an eclectic mix of jewelry made with vintage buttons, beads, charms, repurposed vintage jewelry, and anything else that catches her eye.

Tell me about how you originally got into your craft, Lotta.
Mom O Matic began after readers of my blog encouraged me to start selling the button jewelry I was making as gifts. I'm crazy about buttons and this gives me a wonderful excuse to buy them. I've also been getting into making jewelry with vintage, and vintage style beads and charms. I love vivid colors mixed with antiqued metals. Or deep rich tones next to a bright silver.

What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
Hug my kids!

What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your shop?
Time, time and time. The crafting part is easy to find time for. But time for taking pictures, editing and posting them seems to elude me. If I could just wiggle my nose and have that part done I would be a happy woman.

What item in your shop would you most like to receive as a gift if someone were shopping for you?
What a great question! I'm so terrible about saving things for myself. I'm really loving this Lemon Cake ring

When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
I thought I would drive the Bookmobile. I just thought that must be the coolest job in the world!

What other shops or artists out there do you love?
Too many to mention! But a few of my favorites are:

chocolateandsteel.etsy.com- She has a nice clean look to her pieces. And she's been a great Etsy friend to have as well. You come to depend on the other sellers that are willing to talk shop with you.

PetitOiseau.etsy.com - Beautiful jewelry made almost entirely with Bakelite buttons. Her look is very art deco to me. Sophisticated and pretty. And she's another great person to talk buttons with as well as a fellow Chicagoland resident.

plumtickled.etsy.com - This is a great mom owned business. She makes the loveliest dresses and tops. I'll treasure the ones my daughter has. And I love supporting other moms.

What does your future hold?
Good things I hope! Less stress and some fun adventures with family and friends.
