theVINTAGEcloset offers unique VINTAGE apparel & accessories. We were so please that Rebecca, also known as "ms. VINTAGE" agreed to a little shop talk with us!

Tell me about how you originally got interested in vintage goods.
oh, i always have been into VINTAGE fashion. as a kid i used to LOVE to go to and have garage sales & then in high school i started frequenting the thrift stores & i often would get in trouble at my small christian school for wearing VINTAGE, purposefully ripped up skirts and strange shoes. after high school i went to Bible school in MI (where i met my husband), there was a small thrift store about a half mile down from school & you could fill up a black trash bag of clothing & whatever for only $5. i would regularly get a WHOLE NEW WARDROBE. it was AWESOME, if only there were a place like that everywhere!

What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
oooh, this is goes:

1 > just being with my family; doing WHATEVER!

2 > cooking up & eating "my AMAZING tacos" with friends & watching our favorites shows, like: the OFFICE, Heroes, Lost, Prison Break.

3 > sitting by the fire, listening to COLDPLAY with my husband after the boys have gone to bed.

What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your shop?
BALANCING!!! between laundry, dishes, grocery shopping, feeding 5 people, teaching the boys kindergarten & pre-school, trying to be a good wife, singing at church, making time for friends, activities with the boys & ETSY...i have a CRAZY balancing act to uphold! but, i LOVE it & wouldn't change a thing (except for maybe having a personal assistant, which if ETSY takes off maybe my husband can be that for me).

What item in your shop would you most like to receive as a gift if someone were shopping for you?
any one of my HATS...i LOVE hats, especially VINTAGE hats!

here are a couple of my faves:

off-white VINTAGE -beret- hat

white VINTAGE -sailor- hat

When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
i never wanted to go to college (& i didn't). i just wanted to be a wife & mother (which is UNHEARD OF in our culture) on the mission field somewhere in a remote place of the world.

but, on the VINTAGE side:
i have imagined (or wished of) running a small cottage-type VINTAGE shop & retiring with my husband when we are older.

What other shops out there do you love?
cookoorikoo's shop has fascinated me since the moment i came across it. she takes VINTAGE items & revives them....i pretty much LOVE every item in her shop (they are GREAT for treasuries as well)!

one of my other FAVE Etsy shops is: MundoGominola whose owner Claudia recently passed away. i was SHOCKED when i heard the news. her art is AMAZING & unique; i especially loved her "mad hatter" piece.

& another is: FOUNDLING she makes these 'poppy bobby pins' that are to DIE for! mark my words i will buy a pair someday, i've been talking about buying some for long enough; i need to just DO IT!

What does your future hold?
well, i hope that it holds MANY more happy, healthy & fun years with my 3 boys & my best friend (my husband).

as far as ETSY goes, it would be AWESOME if my shop did so well that my husband could be my assistant & thus be home with me ALL THE TIME!

until sure to stop by theVINTAGEcloset for all your VINTAGE apparel needs...i add new items on a weekly basis & am always SUPER excited to get new customers.
