Lisa Mintz's Photography

The new year has arrived and it is time to revisit our interview series. First up is Memphis photographer Lisa Mintz. Memphis is a special place for me. I got my BA in that city, and I have a definite love/hate relationship with it. After I finished my last exam I couldn't skip town fast enough, but I still found myself strangely excited when I visited for a few hours last year. But that's a tale for another time. Let's visit with Ms. Mintz.

Lisa Mintz's Photography offers perceptual photography that gives a close look at nature and human interaction. The striking photographs are meant to invoke a mystical dreamy experience.

Tell me about how you originally got into your craft.
I started shooting photos at 19 and I've been doing it ever since. I majored in photography in college as well, which is where I got formal training. Lots of my pictures were taken while I was in college.

What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
Photographing nature by far!

What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your shop?
No challenges for me.

What item in your shop would you most like to receive as a gift if someone were shopping for you?
I would probably want the picture of Beale Street, in my home town Memphis, TN.

When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
I thought I was going to be a graphic designer. However I dug photography much more!

What other shops out there do you love?
Urban Soule
Rocky Top Studio
Shimmer town

What does your future hold?
I hope to sell my photography in the mean while, but I want to work as a environmental advocate in a non-profit company.

Be sure to visit her etsy shop today. She's a new seller and has priced her art in the $10 range for a limited time while she gets things going!
