IMOTIME

IMOTIME makes the most amazing clocks out of found objects! I tried to make a clock once out of a red record of Hawaiian music and it did not go well for me or the album, so I am super excited about what IMOTIME has been able to do here. This shop is proof that almost anything can be modified into a freaking awesome timepiece.

Tell me about how you originally got into your craft.
A few years ago I was watching Martha Stewart on one of her old shows and she made a clock from an old metal cake cover. I thought it looked fun, so I made one and gave it to a neighbor. Well, she loved it, and I was hooked.

What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
I love going around to thrift shops and garage sales, finding funky things that other people are getting rid of. I see clocks in all sorts of things, even just walking down the street. I hardly do any other kind of shopping any more, just clock clock clock...

What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your shop?
Promotion. I am still trying to figure out ways to get the word out, without spending tons of money.

What item in your shop would you most like to receive as a gift if someone were shopping for you?
That is interesting, because I always think about trying to sell them, rather than collect them. However, my Frozen in TIME is pretty fabulous, and I do have it out and on the wall as a regular clock in my house. I also love my crazy thermometer clock, and love that even though it seems like it would be hard to read, it really isn't- I have that one up on the wall, too.

When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
A movie star.

What other shops out there do you love?
I love the beautiful hand-painted silk scarves and such at morgansilk.etsy.com

I also think the work that east4thstreet.etsy.com does is very fun and whimsical.

What does your future hold?
Hmmm... I would love to have a brick and mortar shop where I could do work and show items, and be able to interact with my customers and just people who want to see my work.

I have a friend with a shop in Chicago, and hope to get some of my clocks in her fun shop.
