Tell me about how you originally got into your craft.
My adviser for my Phd program quit and I didn't want to work with anyone else. So I started Delia.
What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
Doing something that makes me more than I was the day before.
What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your shop?
Treating all aspects of the process with the respect and importance it deserves so that every piece of work and every customer loves what happens.
What item in your shop would you most like to receive as a gift if someone were shopping for you?
Its a bit of joke around here that almost nothing we make would we pay full retail. Perceived value is my favorite buzz phrase. Given that, I'd like someone to make me the Islamic inspired window grates that I've been wanting for two years.
When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
A business man or an architect. Close to what I am.
What other shops out there do you love?
www.othermusic.com
www.limn.com
www.16sur20.com
What does your future hold?
I'm just trying to get those restaurant fixtures done, finish this months company email newsletter, and have time to prep for Saturday's welding class.
You can find some of their wares on etsy, but be sure to check out their new online home at www.edelia.com. If you live in the area, you should look into taking welding classes from them. If it weren't for the fact that I am clear across the country, I would so be there. That looks like so much fun!
