Delectable Delights

Oh man. So yeah. Two words for you: online bakery. For real. Go check out Delectable Delights if you dare. There are all manner of yummy gooey goodies there. Licensed in Kansas City, Missouri they are now available to tempt anyone with an internet connection! We got a chance to hear all about this labor of love in the next in our series of interviews with small business owners.

Tell me about how you originally got into your craft.
I've been baking and cooking my whole life, and my current boyfriend's family suggested that I start my own business. My first though was "I can't do that." My next thought was, "all the more reason to do so." My mother always told me to never tell myself no or that I can't do something. There are going to be so many people and obstacles to try and stop you from doing the things you want to do in life. You, shouldn't be one of them.

What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
Be myself and be at peace with my surroundings. There are always going to be things that I want to be different, but my favorite thing to do in the whole world is to just be still and take in a moment.

What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your shop?
Peoples apprehensiveness. I understand people being cautious about their food and where they buy it, but sometimes the questions or reasons I get for people not buying with me are a little ridiculous. Once someone told me they just wouldn't buy from someone online because they don't know how fresh the cake would be. My first thought was about when my boyfriend was working in our grocery bakery department and how long he'd say their cakes would be out on the floor. People think they know what goes on with their food but they really have no idea how fresh their food is when they get it from their grocery, especially when they add so many preservatives to add to the shelf life. All of my items, I make the day I ship them, then ship them with 2/3 day priority mail through the us postal service. 9 times out of 10 that's fresher than the bakery department at your local grocer.

What item in your shop would you most like to receive as a gift if someone were shopping for you?
White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake. That's my absolute favorite item in the whole world. lol, so I guess you can add that to the question above too. Take in a moment with that cake =).

When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
Wow. A fashion designer and a singer. Boy I wish I would've been Beyonce lol.

What other shops out there do you love? has the most amazing apples ever has Mexican food that reminds me of home beautiful accessories, I really like the creativity

What does your future hold?
Only time will tell =), I pray nothing but blessings.
