CMZ Art

Charlene from CMZ Art was kind enough to share a bit of herself with us for our interview series. She is an artist specializing in rather haunting and surreal imagery that makes you really lean in and study it. I find her work so fascinating!

Tell me about how you originally got into your craft.
I started teaching myself how to paint in the mid-Seventies. At the time, it was a way to keep me from moving around too much during a difficult pregnancy. In the early eighties, my husband and I started doing craft shows and continued with that until 2003. Our most popular items, Christmas Ornaments made from hand painted eggs.

What is your favorite thing to do in the whole wide world?
Spending time with my family, especially my grandchildren.

What is your biggest challenge when it comes to running your shop?
Trying to 'think like a collector'.

What item in your shop would you most like to receive as a gift if someone were shopping for you? My original painting, 'From The Heart'. It features poppies and dragonflies and is one of my 'all time' favorite paintings.

When you were a kid, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up?
A writer.

What other shops out there do you love?
Best Art Studios
Bellatrix Art
Contemporary Designs
Art and Ghosts
Anna Leah Designs

What does your future hold?
Whatever I make up my mind to achieve.
